Ellie's crazy hair!

Well, once again while Mason and I were being serious thinkers and trying to save the world, our little Ellie girl was supposed to be upstairs taking a nap. She is the "jokester" of the family, and is always making us laugh. Well, I heard her playing for way too long, and figured a nap was not in the cards for the day. So, I went upstairs and found her playing dress up in her crib. The funny thing was, she had on a whole new outfit without even getting out of her crib. The skirt was hanging on her rocking chair and the shirt was on her closet door before nap time. Oh Ell Bell!!! (October 2010)

Whew... that was a quick 10 months

Well, things got a little busy at the Jaubert house this year. I got a little behind on my blogs. But, I promised myself I would catch up the minute I have a chance. So, the postings might be a little shorter as I try to recapture the last 10 months in our lives.

The next thing on the list was our cookies to soldiers. Mason is part of an organization at school called the KC Club (Short for Kindness and Compassion). They meet once a month and do service projects for the community. In October, the challenge was to do something nice for someone that costs a dollar or less. We decided to make cookies. We knew they would not reach the troops that are out of the country by Halloween, so we decided to send them to a hospital in the US that wounded soldiers arrive at before they go home. Mason had a blast, and we hope we made some of our troops smile! (October 2010)

Box House

Jimmy and I had a huge box left over from something we bought, so Jimmy taped it up and cut a door in it to make a house. The kids brought their markers down and began decorating. It was the best thing ever. That cardboard box captivated their attention for a long time. I think I actually got a few things done because of that box. The kids were able to use their imagination and make it look perfect! Such great memories! (September 2010)

Great State Fair of Texas

We try to take the kids to the State Fair every year. Mason talks about it all year and Ellie is learning how to eat her fair share of funnel cakes. Mason loves to ride the rides and look at all the new cars. For the past few years, we have taken the DART Rail straight to Fair Park. It is so much easier than trying to find a parking space and walking really far. The kids love to ride the "mini train" also! This year, we went with my parents. The kids love to do anything with MiMi and Boss, so the fair and MiMi & Boss made for a great day! (September 2010)

Boots and TuTu's

Ellie was invited to a birthday party at Owen's Country Farm. She got to pet the animals and ride on the little wagon train. She had a blast. We decided, since the party was at a farm, she should wear her pink boots. A girl can not wear pink boots without something fancy on top, so she wanted to wear her butterfly tutu dress. I had to snap a few pictures, she looked so darn cute! (September 2010)

Sharing good news with good family

While everyone was visiting, Mason decided to take a swim in MiMi and Boss' pool. He thought it would be fun to ride the big wheel across the pool mat and into the water. He had a few male family members "egging him on". Can you guess whose idea this was?

The day we decided to tell my family we were expecting number three, my PaPa, Aunt Norma, Aunt Toni and Uncle Harold were all in town. We had planned a fun lunch at my parents house that day, so we figured it would be fun to announce it while everyone was there. My family was all so happy, and it was so great to share that day with all of them. (September 2010)

Jaubert... Party of Five!

The Jaubert house is about to get a little bit more crazy! Jimmy and I found out that we are expecting Baby #3 in May. We are so excited. Jimmy comes from a family of three kids, but I come from a LONG line of 2 kid families. I have one sister, my mom has one sister, my dad has one brother, and I have two cousins in each family, on both sides. So, thinking about number three was a bit of a stretch for my entire family. I am so happy to be able to have a house full of kids. Christmas will be so fun, watching three of them will be so rewarding, and I am so excited to bond with a new little angel. Jimmy is the best father in the world. He has always wanted a large family, and I am so happy to be able to share this with him. We are not going to find out the sex of the baby again. It has been so neat to have Jimmy go into the waiting room and announce "It's a boy/girl." He is so proud!
We decided to make shirts for the kids and have them run into MiMi and Boss' house to announce our big news. The kids are so excited. Mason wants a brother and Ellie wants a sister. At least we will please one of them! (September 2010)

Horns Up!

Jimmy and I LOVE the school we attended for college, but one thing it was missing was a big time football team. So, we adopted the University of Texas as our football team. It was only 20 minutes away from SWT, so we feel like we can do that... just for football. So, every year we have to go out and get the kids some celebration outfits to cheer on the Longhorns. Here is a pic of the kids ready for another game!(September 2010)

Mason's First Day of School!!!

WHAT????? How is it possible that my baby boy is in Kindergarten? How am I old enough to have a child in public education? Where has time gone, because I swear I was just rocking him to sleep? I can not believe he is going to Kindergarten!!!
Mason, on the other hand, was more than ready. He was so excited to go to big boy school. He was so excited to buy lunch in the cafeteria. He was so excited to walk with the boys every morning. He could not wait to spend all day with his teacher after he met her at "Meet the Teacher Night." Mason was not worried about his own success at all. His confidence made it so much easier for his mommy to make it through the first day of school.
Jimmy, Ellie and I walked him to school after a great breakfast and a ton of pictures. He walked in, put his backpack away, and sat down at his table to color. I started taking more pictures and video taping, and he quickly asked me to leave. He said he could handle it from here. I wanted to be so happy for him, and I was. In his eyes he was so big, sitting in a big kid table, talking to his big kid friends, walking down those big kid halls, and eating in the big kid cafeteria. In my eyes, he looked so small, sitting behind that big table, talking to all the other little kids, getting lost in those big halls, and not liking anything they served in the big kid cafeteria. I was one scared mommy. After working in public schools for 11 years, you would have thought I would KNOW they are ok once mommy and daddy leave. But, this was my child. No one had ever had MY CHILD in public education. Well, enough about mommy, Mason was not going to have any of that from me. After standing in the corner of the room with all the other parents, Mason looked at us and motioned us to head to the door. We walked to the school cafeteria and visited with a few of the other parents at the "Tears and Cheers" meeting with the principal. She assured us our babies were well taken care of, and that it was their job to take it from there. We walked out of the school, and back home, and I managed to hold it together until I was alone, looking at all of the pictures I had just taken. I had one good cry, and then became as confident as Mason. When I picked him up, he said it was the best day of his life. He gets up every morning, excited to go to school. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful son, and he is so blessed to have such a wonderful experience at school. But, for the record, he will always be my little baby boy!!!(August 2010)

Ellie's Idea of Potty Training

Ellie had been telling me she "needed to go potty" several times a day. Of course, I got super excited to be done with diapers, so I ran out and bought her a Dora Potty to fit over the regular seat. Ellie was so excited, and so was I. I knew girls were easier to potty train, but this easy... I WAS SO LUCKY! So, I put the potty seat on the toilet, and the next time Ellie said "I have to go potty mommy", I picked her up and ran to the potty. We sat in the bathroom, singing songs, talking to each other, but no "potty". Ellie quickly jumped off and said, "I went potty mommy... see!" There was nothing in the toilet. I quickly learned that she was not ready to actually use the potty, she just wanted to have the potty seat. Since that week, we have found several interesting ways to use our potty seat. Needless to say, we will attempt potty training in a few months again! Love my El Bell!!!(August 2010)

Brad Paisley

Jimmy and I try really hard to take time for the two of us. Day to day life gets very busy, and we understand the importance of having fun together, with no little feet running around under us. We believe it makes us better partners and parents. This summer, we decided to spend time outdoors, in the middle of the hot August sun, with no shade. Hmmmmm, maybe this one was not well thought out??? Despite the heat outside, we had a blast with some friends at the Brad Paisley concert. We went to eat, the concert, and then a bar after wards. It was a blast, and we had a ton of laughs. We are so lucky to have my parents available to watch the kids so we can spend time together. So much fun!!!(August 2010)

Beach Detor to Galveston...

This year, we were scheduled to go to Gulf Shores with my family in August. When the oil spill occurred, we had a change in plans. Jimmy and I decided to take the kids to Galveston for a long weekend. We are so glad we did. The kids had so much fun. Jimmy and I had so much fun watching them and enjoying some time off. We love vacations with family and friends, but there is something to be said for a vacation with just the four of us. We were on our own schedule and loved every minute of it. We stayed in a tiny little condo, and it was perfect. The kids had a blast running back and forth from the beach to the pool, catching crabs, jumping waves, and relaxing in lawn chairs. We even had a chance to stop and visit a few friends in Houston on the way. This trip was unexpected, but will provide us with perfect memories forever! (August 2010)

Happy Birthday to Boss!

We are so lucky to have Boss and MiMi live so close. Mason is always trying to figure out great ways to "get" Boss. So, when his Birthday rolled around, Mason decided to get him with Silly String! We went to dinner at Boss' favorite sushi restaurant and opened gifts. Then in the parking lot, Mason "got" him! Happy Birthday Boss, we are so lucky to have you! (July 2010)

Sea World and San Marcos

When Mason was 2 1/2 we drove to San Antonio with the Jones' and took the boys to Sea World. Ellie and Riley are around the same age now, so we decided to take another trip to see Shamu. This time, we stopped at Natural Bridge Caverns also. Mason and Greyson loved it. Friday evening, we got to visit with some college friends over dinner, and Saturday it was off to Sea World. I am not sure why we thought it would be a great idea to travel to Sea World at the end of July, on a Saturday? The kids did not know the difference, so they had a great time. We did make a stop at the water park inside Sea World during the hot part of the day. On Sunday, we ate breakfast with Norma and then stopped off in San Marcos to see SWT with the kids. It was a busy weekend, but a blast. The kids loved everything about it. I am so happy we get to share these kinds of adventures together, and with good friends! (July 2010)

Go Vikings!

Mason started playing flag football this Fall for the Vikings! He has always wanted to play on a team with his friends, but just could not find a sport he loved. He seems to like football the best. The league he is on is pretty serious. We were surprised to find out how serious they truly were. As a mommy, this kinda turned me off at first. But, Mason seemed to like it, and I decided to stop treating him like my baby. After all, he is five and a half, not two. (For the record, five and a half is still a baby to me!) So, every Thursday evening we had practice, and sometimes additional practice on Monday, and every Saturday there was a game. They even had cheerleaders, and Ellie and Riley stood on the sidelines as honorary cheerleaders. We really looked forward to Saturday games. The season is over, and Mason says he wants to play again. I could get used to football Saturdays! Plus, he looks so cute in his uniform! (July 2010)
